Dr. Mueller is a quantitative social science research methodologist and holds professorial rank in the University of Hartford's College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions and in the College of Arts and Sciences. He joined the university as Professor and Dean in 2009 after having served 16 years on the faculty of The George Washington University, Washington, DC. There he was Professor of Educational Research and of Public Policy and Public Administration and served six years as Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership. He spent the 2007/08 year at the University of Miami, FL, as American Council on Education Fellow and Special Assistant to the Provost.

Professor Mueller actively maintains scholarship and teaching agendas to improve applications of quantitative data analysis methods in social science research. He authored, co-authored, and co-edited several applied statistics texts and in excess of 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and presentations. Dr. Mueller served as statistical consultant and proposal reviewer for agencies such as the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Education, and the World Bank and serves on the editorial boards of several prominent methodological and applied journals. He assumed leadership roles in professional associations and is a sought-after lecturer conducting professional development seminars on structural equation modeling to national and international audiences.
