Victoria Proulx-Schirduan works as an education consultant, who has taught for the past 18 years at the elementary, middle, high school, and college level. She has counseled individuals with ADHD in private practice. Her research, state and national presentations, and related articles are in the area of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Multiple Intelligences theory. Proulx-Schirduan began the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at the University of Hartford in the mid-nineties. She chose the program because the coursework allowed her to pursue areas of interest. In addition, she continued her work as a kindergarten teacher while pursuing her doctorate.
One of the faculty members at her initial interview was Dr. Karen Case, who later served as her major advisor. In the interview, Proulx-Schirduan spoke of life goals including that of writing a book. As Case guided her dissertation research in the area of ADHD and multiple intelligences, Proulx-Schirduan presented nationally, but little did either of them know, this joint venture would lead to the publication of their book, MIndful Education for ADHD Students: Differentiating Curriculum and Instruction Using Multiple Intelligences. Proulx-Schirduan comments that "it was exciting and rewarding to see the doctoral and post doctoral work culminate in a book."
MIndful Education for ADHD Students: Differentiating Curriculum and Instruction Using Multiple Intelligences by Victoria Proulx-Schirduan, C. Branton Shearer, and Karen I. Case is published by Teachers College Press, Columbia University.
