The Master's Degree in Elementary Education (MEd) program is an initial certification program. That means that you do not need to have an undergraduate degree in education to enter the program. You will prepare for initial certification through your graduate study. You may be a recent college graduate with an undergraduate degree in psychology who is now considering a career in teaching. Or, you may have worked for years in the business world and are looking for a complete change in your career. In either case, our program will accommodate your needs.
Accreditation Certification programs in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions, including our graduate program in Early Childhood Education, are approved by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) as well as the state of Connecticut Department of Education. Information about NCATE and the accreditation process is available at www.ncate.org.
