Bernadine Anderson

Not many graduate students have founded a school before they entered graduate school. Bernadine Carol Anderson started two: La Petite Fleur Montessori House in Sri Lanka and the Farmington Valley Montessori School, here in Connecticut. During her graduate studies at the University of Hartford, under the tutelage of Professor Regina Miller, Anderson also initiated the
Bridge 2 Peace, a non-government organization that is designed to empower the children of emerging countries and their families.
After the devastating tsunami, Anderson returned to Sri Lanka and brought most of her "recommended reading" from the graduate program in early childhood education for her staff to enjoy. Anderson continues to spread her Peace Curriculum in a country troubled by civil strife.
Anderson earned her master's in early childhood education in May 2008 and was selected for a Regents' Honor Award. This award is the highest recognition of accomplishment that the University bestows on graduate students.
