Naima Millette

Naima Millette Naima speaks of her decision to come to the University of Hartford:

The phrase "going to college" was just a mere dream for me in my high school years. Before I arrived at the University of Hartford, I knew that my experience would be a great and memorable one. Not only would I be entering into a new phase of my life in what, at that time, seemed like a different world but I was also given a chance to enter into a profession that had the potential to not only change my life but that of others as well. Fear of settling in and being accepted at the University of Hartford never entered my mind. This was exclusively due to the warm and friendly personality of Sam Skinner, Director of International Admission. The lengths he took to reach out to me, to the far corner of Trinidad, made me feel special and valued in the eyes of the University of Hartford.

In her second year of doctoral study, Naima made plans to visit her sister in Brazil. Instead of taking a break from her studies, she arranged to observe PTs at work in public and private settings while there. Upon her return she shared her experience with her classmates. View Presentation.

No doubt, there will be travel plans in this doctoral student's future. But for now, the University of Hartford is fortunate that Naima considers campus to be a "safe haven, a place where I found happiness and warmth, ultimately, a place that I call home".
